Smart City Wolfsburg

The megatrend of digitalisation is both an opportunity and a challenge for life, work, industry and society. In Wolfsburg, both the city and Volkswagen Group have been working hand-in-hand since 2016 to shape this process of change for the location. With the joint initiative #WolfsburgDigital, they seek to develop Wolfsburg into a model city of digitalisation and electromobility.

In addition to numerous pilot schemes and research projects, above all, the aim is that residents and guests will discover through new services what “digitalisation” is all about. Here, the intent is for companies and research institutions to increasingly find the right environment for their digital projects.

This commitment, which Wolfsburg AG supports with selected own activities in a coordinating capacity, is grouped into several key areas. In addition to a joint digital strategy and a corresponding infrastructure, this also entails educational, living and employment opportunities, along with an up-to-date charging infrastructure for electric vehicles or digital community services.
